We do not recommend attempting this series in the wet without suitable recovery gear and the love of using it. (On our second reccy here it was a BIT wet and we came away with considerable sill damage and a torn valve stem and a bit more winching experience.)
After leaving 4x4-2 Rocky Road head on to this one.
WARNING Approach this hill with care and there should be no problem but it does have a few obstructions so wheel placement is important. Check you are confident before attempting this climb.
We recommend doing this series in the order they were placed. This is the second in this series of 5 cache hides, the first being 4x4-2 Rocky Road Then this one 4x4-2 Timber Salvage Number 3, 4x4-2 Hells Gate and then the last one4x4-2 Hollow Tree
This loop affords some great views of the surrounding hills and farmlands. You will also be able to see how well mother nature has recovered, in most cases, from the devastating Black Saturday fires.
The cache is hidden on top of the hill with some great views until the trees recover.
We took several readings on three visits so the coordinates should be good but as the tree cover returns reception may not be as good. Feel free to use the hint, these caches are about the drive and an easy find.
Now on to 4x4-2 Timber Salvage, just keep following this track. This track has become quite rough and probably impassable after a bit of rain. Please use comon sence if you are going to continue. We transversed it in a BT50 but it was quite hard in places.
We hope you have a great day’s four wheel driving while collecting a few caches along the way.
Remember:A bad day in the bush is still better than a good day at work.
