Geocache Description:

A view over Lake Glenmaggie from a prime vantage point.

A short distance south of the cache (~38m) is a view of Lake Glenmaggie that the fourwalkers have enjoyed for a number of years.

To the North East is the village of Coongulla hugging the inlets of the lake. The water vapour plumes from Loy Yang can be seen to the South over the Glenmaggie campground. The bridge over Glenmaggie Creek can be seen to the West. The Macalister River, the main feeder for Lake Glenmaggie, enters to the North of West with glimpses of Mt Baw Baw in the distance.

The 177,640 megalitres of storage provides irrigation water for 53,000 hectares of mostly dairy farms from Maffra to Sale. The Lake is keenly used for all types of water sports whilst full, November to April.

The cache is easier to get to as the "tide" goes out, however the cache is above the "tide" line. There is no need to walk on private property as there is walking track for the majority of the distance. The cache is 100mm diameter screw top container. You may be able to sample native fruit at the cache location.

Take the time to enjoy the view, Summer or Winter.
