THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE CO-ORDINATES!
Having archived the original Hancock’s version of ‘What’s That on the Map’ due to flooding of ground zero, I’ve set another cache to exercise your map reading skills. This one is slightly different and doesn’t require the use of a compass, so it will hopefully appeal to a wider audience. If there is sufficient demand from fellow ‘mapoholics’, I’ll set another new cache using bearings as before.
The cache is within 2 miles of the co-ordinates and to the east of the River Exe. To find the cache you will need to follow a trail, using the 1:50,000 Ordnance Survey maps. This can either be the paper versions (sheets 191, 192 and 202) or a website such as StreetMap on zoom level 4, or a digital version (e.g. Memory Maps).
N.B. If you use a different scale map then you will NOT see the same map symbols!
This link takes you to the starting point...

... grid square SY0084.
Each clue will take you to a different 1km grid square. You will be looking for a map symbol within a square. Imagine the grid squares form a huge chess board and you are moving around as the Queen would.
From the starting square, move to a nearby square which has the symbol for ‘National Trust – limited access’.
From there, follow the clues, moving in the direction given, until you find a grid square containing the particular map symbol...

W to Wind generator
In this square, note the spot height number = A B C

E to Place of Worship with tower
S to Railway Station
In this square, note the National Cycle Network number = G

The cache is also in this 1km grid square at co-ordinates...
N XX°XX.(F–A)(C-P)(D+L) W 00X°XX.(S+J-M)(E+R)(G+H+T)
The values A to R are provided by the numbers collected as part of the puzzle. The values replaced by Xs should be clear because you now know the final grid square.
