The cache is a small lock-n-lock container - it's even an official geocaching one! This cache replaces the Forestry Badge Cache in Webster Arboretum and is part of the badge series.
This cache is the only one in Thornell Farm Park. Yes, we actually found a small park with NO CACHES! Woo Hoo! Even more remarkable, we spotted a black squirrel in the woods near where we place the cache.
There is a small prize for the first to find.
There are ten caches in this series. The first nine caches each contain one of nine badges you’ll earn as you improve your outdoor skills. Once you have found them, you'll have the information you need to find the final cache and earn the Geocaching Merit Badge.
When you find this cache, note the letter and number assigned to that badge. You’ll need that information to decode the location of the final cache.
To earn the badge, answer the following questions. If you get stuck, you'll find the answers below.
1. What tree has white bark?
2. The sap of what tree is used to make syrup?
3. What side of a tree does moss grow on?
4. What bark burns when it is wet?
Click on the image below to see a game card showing the nine caching badges. You can print this page and attach each badge (sticker) on top of its picture to track your progress as you complete the series. It is also a convenient place to record the badges' secret letter and number to decode the location of the final cache.
The answers to the questions are shown under Hints/Spoiler Info.
