Geocache Description:

This event will start out at the Diary Queen Restaurant in Shepherdsville on Saturday, January 16th at 9am. After a Hearty breakfast we will drive 5 miles South to the 2nd parking lot at Knob State Forest.

Just what is a Trailmix? If you have not had a chance to take a trailmix up in Indiana with the INDGO group or one of the Kentucky trail mixes, it is a cache hike where hikers of deferent skills gather together and take a hike; the more experienced hikers lead the pack and will wait up for the novice hikers. We will take many breaks along the way, so there will be plenty of times to catch your breath. This kind of hike is enjoyable to young and old alike. I like to say that the goal is a good time not who gets there first or you could say Slow and Steady Wins the Race.

After our Breakfast we will gather in the parking lot around 10am for the drive over to the hiking area.

This is a 4 plus mile hike on the orange and red trails Trail Map Link. The hike may be relatively short but this area is very rugged with a lot of up and down hill sections. Be prepared with warm clothing and plenty of water and a snack or lunch. We plan to stop at Sunset Overlook (GC1MPXB) for lunch unless windy conditions require us to find a more sheltered area. Hiking boots are a must on this hike. We will start out at the 2nd parking area and make a loop back to the same parking area. Note: the parking area requires a small ford across a stream, if you do not think your car can make it across you can park at the 1st parking area and we will make arrangements to take you up to the 2nd parking area.
