This is the final regular cache in the Dam Series on the Texas Colorado River. Inks Dam, completed in 1938, forms Lake Inks. Learn more at http://www.lcra.org/water/dams2.html. There is a great State Park along most of the east side with over 250 camp sites. The park has about 5 miles of nice hiking trails. This cache is a clear plastic 1/2 gallon jar with a white screw top. The most enjoyable approach is from the park trails. Do not be tempted to avoid the entrance fee by parking on the road. It will reduce the hike to under 500 ft, if you can find a hidden trail head on P4 at N 30° 43.785' W 098° 22.582' but you will be breaking the law if you don't pay first.
We plan to add a seventh to the series which will be a virtual cache. Unfortunately, LCRA is protecting Buchanan Dam and limiting access to the public areas during this period of terrorism threats. Stay tuned, it will be worth the visit once its reopened to the public.
