Geocache Description:

Don Gordon was a good friend and co-worker that I worked with for many years. Everyone liked Don. He was a friend to all and was always asking about how things were with you and your family. He was always asking about my upcoming vacations and how my parents were. He was an all-around nice guy.

He was older than most Wal-Mart associates that I work with. About 70. He was well off and did not HAVE to work. He worked because he enjoyed it. One of the amazing things about Don was that while he never looked like he was working, he was able to get his work done and always have time to help others. I remember one Christmas when I was charged with stacking 300 20" TV's. Don offered to help me stack them up. It took over 4 hours and they were stacked 14' high and took up most of the back room. Don never gave up, keeping up with me the entire time. It was hard work but he was so proud of out Mountain of TV's when we were done.

But Don had a secret. One that he told only a few people. He told me and I promised him that I would keep it. And I have, until now.

You see Don had been a Professional Golfer. He had played with the likes of Palmer, Nicklaus, and Gary Player. He was that good. While he never won any major tournies he "placed very well" and was able to "make a nice life" for himself. He married a girl named Dawn. Dawn was a working girl that had made a pretty successful name for herself in Hollywood. While the marriage to Dawn lasted little more than a year, he would have bragging rights for life. You see, the girls name was Dawn Wells. She played a character on a tv show called Gilligans' Island. And by now you might have guessed that my friend, Don, was married to no other than Mary Ann, Americas sweetheart.

My good friend Don is buried in this cemetery very near where this cache is placed.
