missy_gracie: I'm afraid since we moved I'm not close enough to pop by and check that this is still here, but it seems likely to have gone

Green Corridor Trail #3 By the Bandstand
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This multicache is quite easy, a nice wander through the woods. it may be muddy though!
The Green Corridor Trail is a series of caches placed at different times, in very different environments which shows of the different landscapes, pleasures (and problems!) associated with part of the green corridor area in Stanley. The caches can be walked around, and will make a circular walk back to your car, or can be driven between.
south moor woods is a memorial park, which used to have a park keeper, who oversaw amongst other things a swimming pool, childrens play area, tennis courts, bowling green, bandstand, and other family attractions.
Over the years the park has been allowed to deteriorate, with only some hardstanding and the bowling green remaining at the eastern side, and at the western end it has been allowed to grow into woodland.
the once culverted stream now flows freely through the space.
however plans are afoot to regenerate the eastern more formal end of the park.
This is a lovely walk for dogs as it is pretty secure, and includes trees, and water. it may however be muddy!
When you arrive the gates may be closed... this is not unusual, and the right hand side small gate does open with a push... it's closed by dog walkers to keep their pets safe from the road.
The given waypoint will take you to the park gates, which are also the community war memorial. You are looking for the left hand panel which memorialises the war which ended the year above the gates.
search for a vacuum connection.
using this name substitutue the duplicated letter in the surname for the final initial (eg if the name is Davey Durnt P. substitute the duplicated D in Durnt for the P making Davey Purnt)
and then work out the cache co-ords as follows
n54 ??.??? w001 ??.???
where the north co-ords are the first name and the west co-ords the surname (don't foget to swap that letter... it's the middle one!)
a 1 o 5
b 5 p 4
c 7 q 7
d 4 r 3
e 8 s 3
f 9 t 6
g 5 u 5
h 3 v 1
i 6 w 3
j 5 x 8
k 2 y 2
l 9 z 1
m 2
n 8
when you arrive at the location you will be able to see the remains of the bandstand across the path, but only if you look very very carefully! there is a picture of it on the information board on the way in
happy hunting, and please recover the cache well.
