Kind of nature they are most helpful with wishes involving air
though they will assist with any positive desire.
Pookas are also shape shifters & may take a partial
human form with the head of a goat, pig or dog. They will even take
the form of an eagle at times.
Pookas are pranksters & may appear to the weary traveler as
an inquisitive bird or a docile horse. Though in appearance they
may resemble the Kelpies as a sleek back horse with flowing mane
& luminescent golden eyes their intent is not to kill but to
just play jokes on humans. They will entice a stranger to become
comfortable on their backs & then they will take the hapless
rider on a wild ride across the wettest & most loamy
countryside before depositing them in a ditch or tossing them into
the mire.
Though Pookas are mostly harmless because of their adoration of
small children they are always looking for 1 they can steal. They
also have the power of speech & will give advice & can lead
people away from real danger. They are considered benevolent,
unlike the Kelpies which look to destroy humans.
Fachan or Peg Leg Jack as they are sometimes called
because of 1 leg, also only have 1 of each of its other features as
well. They have 1 head, 1 eye, 1 leg, 1 toe, 1 arm & so forth
which are perfectly centered on its ugly little body. Its coloring
is pitch black except for a dark blue mane of feathers which ruffle
as a prelude to an attack.
Fearsome in appearance the mere sight of a Fachan has scared
people to death. They are particularly spiteful & most jealous
of the gift of flight which it was denied despite its feathers. It
is a nasty creature & will usually stay in higher hidden
locations but then who would want to see him anyway....
