Geocache Description:

The cache, a 30 MM ammo can, is in the Rice Nature Preserve in Wilbraham, Ma. off of the underpeak trail. The climb is moderate and the cache difficulty is easy/average.

NEW. NEW. NEW
The Springfield Thunderbirds, a brand new locally owned franchise, will play their first game on Saturday, October 22. As a result, I have added to the cache a souvenir Thunderbirds hockey puck as a FTF in honor of the new franchise.
This cache is in honor of my nearly life-long enjoyment of ice hockey. My Dad started taking me to the games of the Springfield Indians in the late 1950's and I haven't stopped enjoying the sport since then. As a result, the cache contents are related to hockey.
The cache itself is 30MM ammo can. There are also some packs of NHL hockey trading cards from the 1990's for exchanging and I have recently added some new packs, (must be my old card-collecting habit coming back sorry no gum). The exchange of items does NOT have to be hockey related.
The cache is located on the Rice Nature Preserve in Wilbraham, Ma. In order to reach the cache, leave the parking area at the end of Highmoor Drive, and go up the Highmoor Trail to the Rachel Phelps Trail, then take a right onto the Underpeak Trail, (sign on tree about 15 feet down Underpeak Trail). This moderate climb through the woods should be suitable for kids 7 years or older, and the round trip would be almost a mile. The Highmoor parking area is located off Main St. in Wilbraham. Enjoy some of the other trails in the preserve which present some nice views of the Pioneer Valley.
Make sure to WEAR BRIGHT CLOTHING DURING HUNTING SEASON since bow hunting is allowed in the preserve.
