Geocache Description:

One of a series of 6 caches set in and around the attractive and historic village of Hempstead in NW Essex

This series of caches is located in the village where I was bought up and having returned to have a look around some 25 years later I noticed there was an absence of geocaches!

Hempstead is famous for being the birthplace of the highwayman Dick Turpin (visit link) and also the resting place of William Harvey. He discovered the circulation of blood around the human body. (visit link)

Today the village has a population of some 400 residents and enjoys a high level of social interaction. There are several lively societies which include the Dramatic Society, Gardeners Club, Art Group, History Group, Pre-School and Keep Fit. All these groups use the village hall as the main venue for their activities along with ad hoc events such as Quiz Nights, Harvest Supper, Dinner evenings, Beetle drives etc.

The Bluebell Inn is well worth a visit too and often has live music.

All the caches in this series are located on or near well marked footpaths or public areas. Some of these paths will be very muddy in winter. Please make sure you keep to the marked paths and note that if you are using an OS map, some parts have been slightly re-routed although these are clearly signed. Also there is livestock at some of the locations so please keep geodogs under control!

Parking is possible at the Village Hall N 52 01.023 E 000 22.795

This cache "Church View" is a 35 mm cannister containing only a small log sheet.

Others in the series are:
#1 The Glebe
#3 Thessenger View
#4 Under the Flight Path
#5 Nigel's Bridge
#6 Top of the Chase

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the walk.
