Chuck Walla: Greetings from your Community Volunteer Reviewer,

Since you have not responded to my reviewer log about your cache, nor did you post a note to your cache page telling me and others of your intention to address the issue with it, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to your cache page requesting a response from you to post what you were planning to do with the cache on the page and to send me a note. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that you are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Sincerely,

Geocache Description:

Located in front of one of central Arkansas's best attractions! You can park in the big lot and walk under the bridge.

Dickey-Stevens Park opened in 2007 and has been rated as one of the best minor league fields in the nation. It replaces Ray Winder Field, the home of the Travelers from 1932 to 2006! The new stadium is named for Jack Stephens, Witt Stephens, George Dickey, and baseball hall of fame member Bill Dickey. A small museum resides inside the stadium with memorabilia from the history of the franchise. It used to have a fancy Italian restaurant named Valentine's, but after General Manager Bill Valentine retired in 2009--after nearly 40 years with the team--management changed it to Ump's Pub and Grill for a few seasons before they replaced it with the Travs merchandise store.

The Travelers were the AA-Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels and hold two Texas League championship titles (2001, 2008) and five Texas League Division championships. In 2017, they became the AA-Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners after the Angels' contract expired.

A tragic injury occurred in the park in 2007 when a fouled line drive struck Mike Coolbaugh, a base coach for the visiting Tulsa Drillers. The ball's impact was fatal and led to the league requiring base coaches to wear helmets.

In 2014, the Travs rebranded for the first time since the early 1990s, dumping the gas-station mule mascot Shelly. Two new mascots were introduced, Ace the Horse and Otey the Swamp Possum. While Ace is generally well-received, Otey quickly became the laughing stock of national sports columns for its stereotypical hillbilly look and potential to frighten kids, despite the sentiment of the mascot being named after long time grounds-keeper R.C. Otey.

The reported seating capacity is 5,800, but many more can fill the stadium with the berm in the outfield. In fact, opening night had reportedly over 7,900 fans. It also features one of the largest video screens in minor league baseball. I love coming here and purchase a mini-season ticket plan every year. You are looking for a bison tube. It only contains log paper. Please write small!

Be extra careful when it is baseball season! This is my first hide. Hope you enjoy.
