A cache placed to honor
Mrs. Sandlanders
Even though they live only thirty
miles or so from each other, and they had both been geocaching for
over two years, Mrs. Sandlanders and blue_cougar54494 did not know
each other except though the WGA forums. (See link below to reach
the organization's web page.) One evening in October of 2009 it
came out through some chat that both ladies share the same
birthday, December 27. That led to a geocaching event to celebrate
the co-birthdays and to some planning get-togethers before the
event. A few caches were placed to help lure event attendees to the
area, and this is one of them.
While Mrs. Sandlanders and
BlueCougar still have a few good years left in them and are nowhere
near to being dead and "bur-ied" yet, this cache can be found in
some part of the Restlawn Memorial Park along Highway 54 between
Wisconsin Rapids and Plover.
You will be looking for a camo-covered 16-oz. peanut butter
jar.
This cache is located in a cemetery, so be respectful of the
location and your surroundings. It is not necessary to come in
contact with any of the stones to find this cache. If a service is
in progress or friends and family are visiting loved ones buried
here, respect their privacy and come back at a later time.
We had great fun at the
birthday celebration event on December 27, 2009.
