La Tour d'Ausseing fut construite au 15e siècle par les Religieux de Montsaunès : Templiers et Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, qui étendirent dans ce secteur particulier leur hégémonie seigneuriale.
Elle participait à la surveillance de la Garonne.
Un système de signaux optiques complété par un dispositif de courriers équestres assurait, à l’époque, la correspondance entre le château de Montpezat à Mauran et le château de Roquefort sur Garonne.
Comptez environ 30mn pour y arriver et un dénivelé de 126m :
Prenez la route principale qui monte vers le haut du village, plein nord derrière la mairie. A 50m, prenez le première voie à gauche, après un petit abri en tôle. Montez dans la petite voie goudronnée et garez vous au point indiqué.
Suivez le chemin empierré, pour arriver à un replat après plusieurs lacets. Ne prenez pas le chemin de terre à gauche : continuez à droite. Après 10mn, vous arriverez dans une clairière avec la colline face à vous.

Le chemin qui mène à l’orri est à l’entrée de la clairière, à votre droite.
Prudence recommandée. L'orri vous remercie de ne pas toucher à ses pierres !)
Poursuivez votre montée sur le chemin : la Tour d’ Ausseing est en haut ! Avant de l’atteindre, vous passerez devant la piste d’envol des parapentes et sa vue « à perte de vue » : jusqu’à Aurignac vers l’ouest et jusqu’à la vallée du Volp vers l’est.

La Tour d’Ausseing was built in the 15th century by the monks of Montsaunes: Templars and Hospitallers of Saint Jean of Jerusalem, who spread their manorial hegemony in this particular sector.
It participated in the supervision of the Garonne valley.
A system of optical signals complemented by equestrian post operated, at the time, a correspondence between the castle of Montpezat in Mauran and the castle of Roquefort-Sur-Garonne.
Count about 30 minutes to get there and a difference in altitude of 126m:
Take the main road that climbs up the village, northwards behind the town hall. After 50m, take the first road to the left after a small sheet shed. Drive up the small paved road and park at the indicated point.
Follow the paved path to reach a ledge after several twists. Do not take the dirt road on the left: go right. After 10 minutes, you will get to a clearing with a hill facing you.

The path that leads to the orri is at the entrance of the clearing, on your right.
Caution recommended: the orri thanks you for not touching its stones!)
Go on walking: la tour d’Ausseing is up there! Before reaching it, you will pass the runway for gliders, and its view "as far as the eye can see": as far as Aurignac westwards and as far as the valley of the Volp eastwards.
