Well I'll Be Darned Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

calumphing_four: The cache has been dropped lots, even though the nice and strong magnet is sitting there (and the caches are sitting at the bottom of the hole).
Given the stars I don't expect cachers to have to retrieve the cache from the bottom, and given that the yarn bombing has now faded into Port's history, it is time to archive this one.

Cheers[8D]

Geocache Description:

Well Ill Be Darned

Driving through Port Adelaide on a regular basis I noticed some intriguing poles at the main intersection. The next day I noticed the statue on the corner of Commercial Road and St. Vincent Street was looking warm and also some unusual hangings from the Railway Hotel in St. Vincent Street. A quick search of the internet and I discovered that Port Adelaide had been Yarn Bombed.

Follow this link to read about it in the local Portside paper, or follow this link to see photos of the area.

I finally stopped with a camera and a cache. Checkout the trolley and the seat in this photo from Lipson Street:

There is also a neat compass rose sculpture with a story close-by too:

To find the cache I left look at the plaque on the ground by the sculpture at the given coordinates (and in the photo above) – and I highly recommend you push the button on the sculpture too. Using the year from the plaque:
If it is 1926 goto S 34° 50.534 E 138° 30.644
If it is 1927 goto S 34° 50.518 E 138° 30.384
If it is 1928 goto S 34° 50.735 E 138° 30.595
If it is 1929 goto S 34° 50.606 E 138° 30.879.

Should be a simple smiley as it is magnetically attached (the magnet is on the structure, not in the cache), although you should already be smiling from such a neat artistic project. The street makes me smile every time I go past.

Cheers
