Quick cache on the bikepath.
I got the idea to hide this cache after a FTF on a CRAZY DIAMONDS cache farther down the path.
I used to trap the Blackstone River in the early 80's from North Smithfield all the way down to Lonsdale. I have to say the Blackstone has changed quite a bit since then. My dad and I patrolled the river on a regular basis in our Coleman canoe, and I was always armed with my trusty Crosman 760 BB gun. The geography has also changed a lot too. I can remember exploring the remnants of the old mill works that were all along this section of the river. There was always something to shoot at, and always something to explore. The fishing was great too!! Back then it was so much fun to be a kid. How the times have changed.
Now for a little history of this spot. Native Americans used to wade the river here to set up traps to catch fish. Colonial settlers also used this area in much the same way. The earliest bridge appeared on maps in the early 1800's which was called Hemlock Bridge. The remnants of that bridge are still visable downstream.
Take a few minutes to enjoy the view at a place that has been a big part of my childhood. Even though the landscape has changed, the memories will always put a smile on my face! Enjoy!
