Located off the trail leading to DeSoto Falls in north Georgia. The
trail is reasonably wide with a number of 50 foot rise hills. It is
not too difficult. You will have to traverse a number of downfalls
across the trail.
From the DeSoto Falls parking lot take the upper falls trail.
From the trail use your GPS and Navigation Skills to locate the
cache. The Cache is at the base of a rock about the size of a
refrigerator on its side.
NOTE: Read the virtual log entries below as some cachers have
reported that they found the clues difficult or misleading. I've
changed the description and hint to reflect some problems. Be sure
to carefully read my description as some troubles were due to
misreading the description.
For a great waterfall themed hat trick you can also hunt the
Dukes Creek Falls and Headwaters of the Chattahoochee River caches.
All three would make for a full day!
The cache has a lot of interesting stuff in it. Please log your
visit in the cache log and also log your visit in the geocache
virtual log. Happy Hunting.
Note of 10-7-01: The terrain and difficulty rating of this cache
was upgraded from 2&2 to 3&3 based on feedback from those
who have hunted the cache. Some folks have found it appropriate for
caching with kids while others find it a bit too much. As with all
caches, please print out the entire cache page and take it with you
while hunting.
Note of 03-05-06: The trail is no longer
closed. It is not being MAINTAINED. Enter at your own risk. There
is a lot of Downfall and climbing over or around downed trees is
required. Dog-A-Potamus was able to traverse the entire trail up to
the upper falls without any incident.
