Pine for shadow of Zenyouji
The pine for the shadow of Zenyouji is a natural monument of [roumatsu] of 600 years and the capital specification of the age of a tree. It is wide as ground is greatly crawled in 30m in east and west and the south north 28m though the trunk surroundings 4.55m and height are 8m.
The growing thickly area fought over [okanomatsu] of Kagawa Prefecture and [shinsatotera] against the top of Japan, there was a plate that great grand champion sumo wrestler [tochinishiki] (chief director Kasugano at that time) from Koiwa recommended for the grand champion sumo wrestler of the Japanese great pine list, and was a grand champion sumo wrestler in the east.
However, [okanomatsu] has already withered and it becomes one person grand champion sumo wrestler now.
To our regret witheringly in 1940 though there was a pine "Star getting off pine" also in [Zenyouji].
I hear that the pine of the background of ..sacred tree that appears as [**dai] (Do more).. Noh stage the pine seems to be what showed as for the pine for the shadow the meaning of gods and Buddha' temporarily showing the appearance for the shadow (way trench), and the god "Pine for the shadow".

善養寺の影向の松は樹齢600年の老松、都指定の天然記念物｡幹周4.55m、高さは8mだが、東西30m、南北28mに大きく地を這うように広がっています｡
その繁茂面積は、香川県・真覚寺の岡野松と日本一を争い、小岩出身の名横綱栃錦（当時春日野理事長）が日本名松番付の横綱に推挙するというプレートがあり東の横綱でした｡
しかし、岡野松はすでに枯死してしまい今は一人横綱となってしまっています｡
善養寺にも「星降り松｣という松がありましたが残念ながら昭和15年に枯れてしまっています。
影向（ようごう）とは神仏が一時姿をあらわすことを意味し、「影向の松｣とは神が松を憑代（よりしろ）として現れた神木のこと、能舞台の背景の松は影向の松を現したものだそうだそうです。
600年年前に思いを馳せながら探してみてください。
