Part of a series of caches along Winchester Boulevard
Winchester Boulevard in meant to be the evacuation route for residents of the Cape Haze Peninsula. Without any changes it is probably the best way to leave the area in the event of a hurricane. Some will tell you that leaving early, before the rain starts, is advisable based on the low elevation and risk of flooding. (Hopefully, we'll never need to make that decision.)
The master plan for this route includes connecting the two ends of the road and extending it to the south as well as potentially increasing the elevation to mitigate flood risk. These improvements have been in the discussing phase for a while, where they are likely to remain for years.
This location marks the northern end of the southern portion of Winchester Blvd. Long pants are recommended.
Cache contains small trade items. Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log.
