We happened out this way while doing fall maintenance on some caches. We were surprised at how fast the landscape is changing around our city. There are new roads, upgrades to roads, new buildings. One building in particular, the Regina Region Intermodal.
The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure, Government of Canada, City of Regina, CP rail and the Rural Municipality of Sherwood, are all working together to develop a new inter-modal transportation facility and related road infrastructure.
This infrastructure project consists of building a new Canadian Pacific Inter-modal facility,( west of Regina) and upgrading Pinkie Road connecting to Highways #1 and #11. There will also be a new interchange at Highway #1 and #11 and some upgrading to Dewdney Ave.
This Inter-modal will be used to transfer shipping containers between trains and trucks. It will increase rail capacity, make business more competitive, create jobs and help alleviate traffic congestion in and around Regina. The Regina region and southern Saskatchewan will have an opportunity to share in the benefits of the Saskatchewan booming economy.
Take a moment out of your busy day and take a drive out and around our city to see all the new development happening.
All good cachers carry a writing stick and will always replace the cache exactly where they found it and that the cache is well hidden.
