Its size and quality reflect the wealthy patronage of Bury St Edmunds Abbey, which was the second biggest Benedictine monastery in Britain, and which maintained a hunting lodge in Redgrave Park. Sadly enough the church has now been made redundant and a smaller, more modern one created in the village centre. It is locked though there is information as to where a key can be obtained.
For further information, please see Simon Knott’s excellent page on his Suffolk Churches website.
If anybody would like to expand the Church Micro series please do, we would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names, to avoid duplication.
