Geocache Description:

This is the second of three puzzle caches located in Dickinson Memorial Park, Newtown, CT.

This cache is based on my second favorite book, Wuthering Heights, written by Emily Bronte, Charlotte's sister.

This puzzle cache is located at:

  • N41 23.X
  • W073 18.Y
Where:
  • X=A+B+C+D
  • Y=Catherine Linton's age when she first meets Heathcliff.(Please note: it's not Catherine Earnshaw's age that we want)

A= Linton Heathcliff's age when he goes to live with his father, Heathcliff.

B= Why did Heathcliff leave Wuthering Heights?

  • 127 - Hindley Earnshaw asked him to leave.
  • 137 - To go to London to make a living.
  • 147 - Catherine Earnshaw's comments to Nellie.

C= When Nellie states "conscience has turned his heart to an earthly hell.", she referred to:

  • 180 - Hindley Earnshaw's remorse after his wife died.
  • 250 - Heathcliff's remorse over the choices he made during his life.
  • 270 - Edgar Linton's guilt over the fact that he failed to keep his daughter away from Heathcliff.

D=How did Catherine Earnshaw meet Edgar Linton?

  • 450 - When she was attacked by his dogs.
  • 460 - While she was walking on the moors.
  • 470 - Nellie introduced them.

Wuthering Heights Fact: Top Withens is popularly credited as being Emily Bronte's setting for the Earnshaw moorland farmstead. Whether or not this desolate ruin on the Pennine moors above the village of Haworth is the genuine location of "Wuthering Heights"hardly seems to matter to most visitors: the setting is romantic enough to have appeared in several film versions and paintings, and it is hard not to be impressed by the wildness of the place. For more information see: Bronte Country. Below is a photograph of the Moors, the setting of Wuthering Heights.

Congratulations to igetaround and trail buddy for being Co-FTF's.
