Geocache Description:

Ichinoya Yasaka Shrine is one of famous shrines around this area.

The shrine was founded in around 870. Ichinoya means "the first arrow". The legend says when villagers were in trouble with a crow, the god Tenno-sama (=Susanowo no Mikoto) shot it down with a single arrow. The place he shot the crow is the place where the present Ichinoya Shrine exists. And a place the crow fell down was named Tamatori (taking a bead) village because this crow held a bead. Anyway, the shrine is very popular around here as the god offering prosperity, good harvests, warding off diseases and natural disasters.

The garlic festival held in the shrine is a unique festival. Supporters believe that garlic is an item to invite good fortune and ward off evil.

In the grounds of the shrine is always cleaned up by local volunteers. Please try to keep clean around the cache point, too and hide the cache back carefully.
