This cache, our first one, is placed in honor of our pet cat, Empress. Empress was diagnosed with feline mammary cancer in June 2009; after fighting hard for an unbelievable six months she went peacefully on 12/12/09.
The location is special as it is near to our wonderful veterinarian's office, and the American Cancer Society has a location on the second floor of the building near the cache site - they support human AND pet cancer research.
Not many folks realize that pets can develop breast cancer - it is actually the third most common feline cancer, with the most common patient being a senior female cat between 10-12 years (info taken from the internet).
The original cache includes some Silly Putty, first aid supplies, a log book with Empress's pic/pen, and a CASH prize for the FTF! Please e-mail if there are any issues with the cache, as Ria works within walking distance. The office buildings can be busy Monday - Friday, so you'll need to keep an eye open for muggles. If you come on the weekends or after 5pm you should only see the occasional security vehicle.
