Geocache Description:

On a new hadicap accessible trail into Mud Pond in the Pondicherry Wildlife Refuge.

Scallops, the Geocaching Otter, has decided that it is time to hide his first cache. The access is from Route 116 between Whitefield and Jefferson, NH. The access road is on the east side of 116 and is marked at the end by by a sign that says The Mud Pond Trail. At this time, we are hoping that the access road to the parking lot will be plowed in winter. We do not plan to remove the cache for the winter but be warned parking may not be available.

After you find this cache, walk down the hill to the board walk and enjoy the view of Mud Pond without getting your paws muddy. Please do not walk off the boardwalk as the area is ecologically fragile.

The cache is a sandwich sized lock and lock with a pig, a dog, bubbles, animal track cards, and a 4-H pin. The cache was replaced with a 4" pvc pipe covered in camo on March 4, 2012 and moved a little as it would not fit in the old location. We have updated the coordinates and the hints for the new location. Please put the cache back upside down. This will help keep water from getting in the cache unless we get a lot of flooding.

We keep trying for the perfect solution to keeping this cache drier. We have replaced the cache container with an ammo box. I wouldn't worry about putting it upside down now. We will experiment with the PVC pipe and see if we can find a way to keep it dry inside.
