National BSA has created "Get in the
Game" to celebrate their 100th anniversary as a way to get
more boys outdoors and to promote geocaching to the scouting
community. We are holding a Geo-Scouting 101 "class" to
introduce scouting units (packs, troops and crews) to
geocaching. You can come with your scouting unit or come as a
geocacher. Everyone is welcome to come learn or help teach others.
So please join us.

You will
learn :

how to program
a GPS unit
-
how to search
out local geocaches (we expect to have a few more placed in time of
the even to give all the seasoned geocachers new caches to
find)

about the
different types of geocaches
-
how to place
you own geocaches
-
what travel
bugs and other trackables are. We will launching 5 special
"Pillars of Scouting" travel bugs to start their
journeys.
Geocachers
from the Central Jersey Geocachers club will be on hand to answer
any other questions you might have. There may also be some
geocaching items for sale that include ammo cans, travel bug tags
and geocoins.
Please
bring your own lunch and a can of either chicken noodle soup or
vegetarian soup. We will have hot soup available all day
along with other hot beverages that include coffee, tea, hot cocoa
and apple cider.

Please
register your unit with Jean Thayer (email:
littlered101@embarqmail.com).
Let her know your name, unit number, district, number of people
attending and if you are a registered geocacher, your geocaching
name.
You don't need
to be at the event for the whole time, but you can stay all day and
have fun. The information sessions will be repeated
throughout the event.
