This
29.49-acre community river park is a fisherman’s retreat. An access
road extends from an equestrian facility at the park entrance to a
small lagoon that offers refuge for manatees and a launch site for
canoes. A natural trail around the lagoon provides access for
shoreline fishing. Park improvements include a brand new pavilion
with bathrooms. Next to the pavilion is a very nice
playground for the kids. At the time of this listing there
are two existing caches in the park, but hopefully there will be
others placed for the event. There are plenty of other caches
nearby for a day of caching before the celebration.
If you would like to join us for a "white
elephant gift exchange" feel free to bring a gift valued at $10.00
or less for adults. If you have kids we will have a separate
table set up with gifts valued at $5.00 or less kid themed.
So if you are bringing a kid and want to participate then bring a
kid gift so they can trade for another kid gift. If you want
one gift per team then bring one gift, if you want each team member
to receive a gift them bring that many gifts. Keep in mind if
you have something new laying around the house you can wrap that up
instead of spending money. This is just about having
fun. We will issue tickets to those bringing gifts to keep
track of who will participate. Do not feel as though you have
to participate in the gift exchange in order to come to the
event. The gift exchange is just one of the activities we
have planned. The last time we had this gift exchange it was
a blast.
There
will also be the normal geocaching stuff going on at this
event. We will have a travel bug/geocoin table set up for
anyone wanting to trade bugs and coins. There are plenty of
caches nearby in the Merritt Island area for anyone wanting to go
out on a mini cache run before the event. All in all we want
this to be a relaxing day of geocachers joining together and having
a great afternoon of socializing and talking about the
sport/hobby/addiction we have in common together. So mark
your calendars and be sure to make this event.
We
will meet under the pavilion at 2:00 pm. We will make a
couple of announcements and grab a treat if you desire. Then
we will start the gift exchange.
