Geocache Description:

This is an easy grab-and-go cache with easy parking. Container contains log but no writing instrument. Parking is available on Hansen Drive.

From the early 1920's until 1968, this location was part of the Hansen and Giger Dairy. Hundreds of dairy cows were milked here each day and the milked was shipped to creameries in San Francisco.

The photo shows the extent of the dairy. It was bounded by the creek which crosses under the Division St. bridge, Hopyard Rd. the creek north of Val Vista and Highway 680. The property was once a hop farm and some of the large buildings that were once used for drying hops were later used as cow barns. And, yes, that is why it is called Hopyard Road. Hansen Drive (and park) were named for the Hansen family from the dairy.
