Geocache Description:


Founded in 1880 Swan Hunter, formerly known as "Swan Hunter & Wigham Richardson", was one of the best known shipbuilding companies in the United Kingdom. Swan Hunter shipping yard was responsible for some of the world’s greatest ships in the 20th century. In 2007 Swan Hunters officially closed its gate. The Ship Inn was a pub used mainly by shipyard workers. It was once part of a terrace of houses with another pub at the other end of the terrace.
From where the cache is you can see what is left of Swan Hunters and a good view up the Tyne, The Ship Inn is still there and you can see the Segedunum Roman Fort.
Entrance to Gainers Terrace is just off Buddle Street, Wallsend this area is within walking distance from Wallsend metro station and the Hadrian Cycleway runs just behind Gainers Terrace for all you cyclists.
This cache is a 35mm canister with log book and pencil
