Geocache Description:

The purpose of this cache is to guide you and provide information for the caches in the upper Steiltes section of the Nelspruit Nature Reserve.

We recommend that you park close to this location, and look for the path and little bridge which is the "Way To Go", then follow the trail.

Access to this upper section of the nature reserve is not controlled, and there are no opening or closing times. This cache is suitable for a quick park and grab in the dark, but we don't recommend attempting the other caches up here at night, as there are some quite steep cliffs.

To find all the caches in this upper section of the nature reserve entails a walk of about 2 kms in total there and back, with generally easy gradients, good trails, and superb views, returning along the same route. In summer, take water with because it can get very hot up there.

Once you've found the cache "View From The Top", head down the rock a bit further, and look for a trail heading off to the right back towards the houses. This will take you to the next hill (and it's caches) which you'll approach from behind, and it's not necessary to bush-whack to get there - just follow the trail.

Update: there's a new cache between "Way To Go" and "Nice Big Ammo Can" called "Red Duiker's Hideout".

The caches in the upper reserve are:
Way To Go.... (Traditional - This Cache)
Red Duiker's Hideout (Traditional)
A Nice Big Ammo Can (Traditional)
View From The Top (Traditional)
Nelspruit's Granite Suite (Earthcache)
Stumpy's Revenge (Traditional)
Nelspruit's Granite Domes (Earthcache)

From "View From The Top" you can head directly for "View From The Bottom" and connect up with trails and caches in the lower reserve. The easiest route is straight down for a bit, then angle leftwards to meet up with the marked trail along the side/bottom of the granite dome. If you do the upper and lower reserve in one session, expect a bit of a huff-puff to climb back out the top. Alternately, if you can arrange a pickup down below, then doing the upper caches, then the lower caches is a relatively easy hike of 3-4 hours.

More info about the caches in the lower reserve can be found on the cache Another Way To Go....
