Located at the intersection of North Road and Slab Landing Road about a mile outside of the Town of North, SC it is approximately 60 feet from the road in a wooded area.
Make sure you are on the right side of the road when looking for the cache and obey all signs in the area.
The cache is NOT located on the Airbase side of the road.
Stay away from that area or the Men In Black may come to see you.
This is #38 in our "WEIRD SC" Series which will consist of caches placed at locations where either ghosts, unknown creatures, or just plain weird things have occurred or exist.
We think our State Motto should change to "Smiling Faces, Haunted Places.
Now this area is not haunted, as far as we know.
But as Weird goes, this one takes the cake.
If you live in or near North, SC, you already know it is famous for the "Secret" Air Base.
Thats right.
SECRET AIR BASE.
Now, we know it's a Secret Air Base 'cause no one is supposed to know it is there.
Never mind that anyone driving down North Road can openly see the barbed wire perimeter fence with "US GOVERNMENT PROPERTY, RESTRICTED AREA" signs evey 50 feet. Or the fact you can see the long, huge runways there. Also the regular patrols by guys in Tactical gear with machine guns. Not to mention that as you drive down to where the cache sight is at the intersection there is a sign with an arrow stating "North Air Base" on it.
Of course there is the "WELCOME TO NORTH" signs that have a plane on them and the slogan "Home Of The North Air Base".
Might be a clue!
Or the fact that any average day you can enter North from either side of Hwy 321 and see huge Cargo planes performing manuevers that single wing Cessna's have trouble with; not to mention that people regularly run off the road and call the North Police to hysterically tell them a huge plane just about landed on top of their car as they perform these manuevers at VERY low altitudes.
Could be a hint!
Just head on over to Town Hall and see the Chief Of Police Fallaw or Sgt. Bob Herlong. And when you ask them about what they do at that "Secret" Air Base they will raise their finger to their mouths and go "SHHH!" We can't talk about that. As they do so you may notice their North Police patch on their shoulder has a large Airplane on it.
Hmmm.... Could they be trying to tell us something?!?!??
Actually it is not the Airbase that is secret; just what they EXACTLY use it for. So don't ask.
They wont tell you anyway!!!!!
Container is a small lock & lock with a log and small trade items. No writing instrument is inside.
