A Memorial Obelisk on the site of Whare Puni at Mangaakuta, a hamlet near Masterton 1870.

The Legend of Maui fishing up the North Island is depicted on the gables of the building which is sometimes refered to as the 'Maui House'. this house has also been described as being at Manga-a-Kutapa, Homebush, Masterton, Clancy's corner, and as 'Maori Pah Pipitea Point 1865'

An interesting obelisk made with an eclectic collection of stones.

This is a busy road at times.
