The cache is one of a series of caches placed along the Hutt River Trail, initially on the east side of the river.
The original cache was muggled and has been replaced. It is in a similar hiding place and located 2 metres west of the original.
Running from Petone's Hikoikoi Reserve to Te Marua north of Upper Hutt, the Hutt River Trail reminds us of the early Maori foot tracks alongside Te Awa Kairangi (Hutt River). Ideal for walking, running and cycling, the Hutt River Trail also provides river access for swimming, fishing and kayaking. In most cases the Trail runs on both banks, offering shorter loop routes between bridges. Enjoy the leafy glades and open spaces, many linking with local parks and sports fields.
This cache is the first in the Hutt River Trail series and my first cache. It is a 100ml plastic bottle painted green and contains a logbook and pencil..
Attributes: Stealth required, takes less than 1 hour, kid friendly, parking available, dogs allowed, public transport.
