Geocache Description:

Cabbage is probably best-known in the U.S. for its use in traditional St. Patrick’s Day fare – corned beef and cabbage. Cabbage is tasty both cooked and in salads. Red cabbage is often used to add color to salads in restaurants.

The cabbage plant has a long and distinguished history, pre-dating recorded history. It is thought to have originated in Asia Minor or the Middle East. After being introduced to Europe, it gained popularity. Cabbage was first planted in the U.S. in the mid-1600s and is now produced commercially year-round.
