Welcome to the only light house on Grand Turk Island. You are
looking for a camo "pre-form" (like a test tube) cache container
that is high above the ocean just outside of the fenced-in property
of the light house grounds.
The Grand Turk Lighthouse is over 150 years old, and stands on
the northern tip of the island, opposite the cruise terminal. It
was built in the U.K. and transported here piece by piece with
hopes that it would bring a halt to the many shipwrecks on Grand
Turk's reefs. In its earliest years wrecks were frequent. Legend
has it that enterprising thieves would douse the whale oil lamps in
hopes of new bounty, though written history chalks it up to the
light being dim or simply going out. In 1943 a kerosene light took
its place. The lighthouse went electric in 1971. The old lens is
now on display in the National Museum about 2 miles away.
Informative plaques surround the lighthouse, and the spot offers a
breathtaking view of the ocean.
Please bring your own pen/pencil. (And don't forget that camera
too!!)
The cache is approximatly 5 miles from the cruise boat docking
area. To get to the cache from the cruise boat I suggest you hire a
taxi or rent a car or golf cart, which are available at the
boat/store area. Car rentals come with an easy to navigate map and
allow you to see the island on your own schedule.
The below picture is where the cache is hiding.
Small note on cache maintenance: There is a local
cache guardian. Name and contact info on file with
