A Star is Born? You ask why the name? Here's why!
We met up with a great group of geocachers for this most festive maintenance party, which consisted of ScoutDog3, Bearchaser3 and their families, and oldboyhiker.
Our goal was to replace blown light bulbs and bad light sockets on this huge Star atop of Pine Mountain! We had a blast rock climbing and rapelling down the side of the mountain.
Come to find out, this has been a tradition for both the Bearchaser's and The Scoutdog's families for many years! The Star on Pine Mountain has been in place for about 50 years.
We have lived here most of our lives and have known and seen the Star on many past Christmas seasons, never really thinking on what it took to keep the star in place and maintained. Now we know!
After arriving at the Top of Pine Mountain, the view was breath taking. Wow, it was amazing to be on top of it all. Absolutely gorgeous!
So the simple jist of this cache is to bring you here during the Christmas Season, now and in the future. The Star will only remain lit during the Christmas Seasons. So, try to arrive at the cache during the early evening hours to see the star.
Simply drive north towards Oneonta on Highway 75. After grabbing the easy geocache smile, turn around and look to the East for the grand view!
