I stopped by today to check this one out, and sure enough as MountainRacer mentioned, the tree is indeed gone. This one had a nice run, with more visitors than I ever would have thought. Not only is the tree missing, but there is no trash or evidence of the cache in the area as well. Thanks to all who visited!

Locals call this large specimen, “The Newport Oak.” It is commonly used to give directions to folks in the area, such as “Turn left, right before the Newport Oak.”

So, on your way to the bay, stop and check out this beauty. Please be very careful with young children as this is a very busy roadway!
