Oak Tree River Walk Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bjg8: Thanks everyone for the nice Found messages, I hope you enjoyed this cache. I moved away from the area and am unable to maintain the cache to adequate standards so it's time to say goodbye. Hopefully someone else use this nice area to place a new cache.

Thanks,
Bjg8

Geocache Description:

The cache is placed near the Elmwood Avenue entrance to Genesee Valley Park. I suggest parking at the following coordinates: N 43°07.308' W 077°37.979’ courtesy of TheJ5’s. You’re looking for a container slightly smaller than a 35mm film canister; BYO pencil and tweezers would be useful for removing the log. Beware of muggles passing by on the Genesee Valley Greenway trail or park roads. Replace the cache to its original location. Please respect and preserve all trees and wildlife in the park. Observe posted park hours.

After living and working in the area, I’ve become quite fond of Genesee Valley Park and all the mature trees that reside there. Fredrick Law Olmstead designed the park to “create a country feel for all people.” Olmstead also designed Highland Park, Seneca Park and most notably Central Park in NYC. I typically pass the cache area leaving the park and thought this would be a great place for a cache.

More information about the park can be found at: (visit link) and more about Olmstead on this great PDF from the Rochester Public Library: (visit link)

Congrats to Cimsagro4 for FTF!
