Nature Calls #5 - Crapsey Road Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Paleoman52: Doing a little housekeeping on this snowy cold day and I've decided to archive a few of my less visited caches. I very much appreciate the visits you made and the logs you left sharing your experience. Time to open up a few spots and let some others place some new caches.

Geocache Description:

Another edition of my "Nature Calls" series. You are looking for a camouflaged matchstick container.

Here it is, the much awaited and anticipated 5th edition of my “Nature Calls” series. This time I would like to focus on a person that is mistakenly thought to have contributed much toward a luxury we all have in our homes and really don’t want to be without. What I’m talking about is the modern flush toilet. This association has been wrongly attributed to a gentleman from the 1800’s named Thomas Crapper (1836-1910). He was born in merry old England and his real claim to fame was not so much the flush toilet itself but the ballcock mechanism. Recommended reading about Crapper would be a book written by Wallace Reyburn in 1969 called “Flushed with Pride: The story of Thomas Crapper”. Keep in mind though that this story is a heavily fictionalized, satirical biography. I guess when you have a name like “Crapper” and you are a plumber, it is only natural that someone over time would connect the two.

So at this point you are probably wondering what has this got to do with a geocache dedicated to a “Nature Calls” theme, well let me explain. In my travels I am always amazed at the names some roads are given. I happened to be on my way one day to do some maintenance on one of my caches near Oakland, NY and I saw this one particular road that had a unique and appropriate name for another edition of my “Nature Calls” series. The road is named “Crapsey Road” and this is a perfect name for a road in this location. It borders along a very large and active dairy farm and I’m sure at different times throughout the year there is plenty of “Crapsey” nearby.

Now about the cache; You are searching for a camouflaged matchstick container. Go to the posted coordinates and look for the well hidden micro there. There is a “Eurapean tree” in this area and that should help you to know that you are close and should make your search a little easier. There, that’s all you need to do, pretty easy cache if I do say so myself. Please try to be stealthy in this area as you search for the cache, there is usually not too much traffic on this road, so park off on the shoulder.

The first finder may be “Flushed” with Pride and the bragging rights will be theirs!
