We hate poison oak! So we guarantee that this cache site is 100 percent poison oak-free.
Poison oak is abundant in Humboldt County and is the bane of geocachers everywhere. Approximately 85 percent of the population is sensitive to urushiol oil, the "poison" in poison oak and ivy. We recently discovered we're in that group! Fortunately, you won't find any of the demonic vines at these coordinates. Contrary to popular belief, poison oak is never dormant, even after it drops its leaves in the fall. In fact, the oil found in the bare stems can be many times more potent than the oil in the leaves! So keep your distance, and if you suspect you've rubbed up against some P.O., try to wash the affected area with strong soap or dish detergent within one hour of exposure.
The cache is a small container with a packet of Poison Oak and Ivy Wash (in the convenient field size) for the FTF. There's also a log, pencil and a few small toys. Please be extremely stealthy, rehide well (in the same spot you found it) and have itch-free fun!
