A drive-by cache in the heart of Snowdonia near a very famous pub. The cache is just off a footpath which leads to the lakeside and there is parking on the verge near the inn.
The Pen-Y-Gwyryd Hotel opposite has a fascinating history.
Hillary and Tenzing stayed here when training for the first successful ascent of Mount Everest in 1953 and if you go inside for a drink, there is lots of fascinating information, including signatures on the ceiling, and details about mountaineering in the area.
Please do not park in the Sherpa bus stop.
A HUGE "THANK YOU" TO LisaG875 WHO COMPLETELY OFF HER OWN BAT DECIDED TO GIVE THIS CACHE SOME TLC IN JULY 2015. MY NEXT VISIT WAS LIKELY TO BE A WBMC 'OLD TIMERS' WEEKEND IN LATE AUTUMN AND IF YOU ARE STILL WORKING THERE THEN I'LL POP IN TO THE P-Y-G AND BUY YOU A DRINK
And another big THANK YOU to Rascal2 for putting a new container in place without any asking, as Wales came out of Lockdown in March 2021 :-)
