phiki614: The A to Z ended up with a few holes, so I am retiring my caches, making space for new people to put some out if they choose.

T is for Tor
A tor is a rock outcrop formed by weathering, usually found on or
near the summit of a hill.
Tors are composed usually of granite or metamorphic rocks, though
occasionally of other hard rocks such as quartzite, and are the
result of millions of years of weathering. In prehistoric times,
when the land was covered in forest, rain water seeped into the
ground and gradually weathered the bedrock through its natural
cracks, or joints. Once the land became exposed, the weathering was
accelerated, particularly during the Ice age when freezing water
expanded in the cracks. The result can be seen today in dramatic
rock formations.
The cache is located at the bottom of one of these Scist Tors that
scatter the Pisa Range.
The accuracy of the location is about 5m, it is a 2L container
containing logbook, pencil and swaps.
WARNING: This cache is located at 1338m above sea level and is an
18km round trip from Swann Rd. You need to be prepared with warm
clothing and food as the weather can change very quickly in the
alpine conditions. This cache may be unavailable during winter due
to snowfall.
This cache is part of my A to Z of the Cromwell Area. At each cache
in the alphabet there will be a special code: note this down and
the letter it corrosponds to - there will be caches in the future
that use these codes. Happy hunting.
