A hike past Pololu Valley along the Awini Trail
Today is my 53rd birthday and Zorro the Wonderdog decided that the perfect gift for the guy that has nothing, is a very long hike to a beautiful spot. So after a quick stop at Starbucks, where he allowed me to finish half of my pumpkin scone, we were off to Pololu valley.
Some of you might remember this from the old "Beyond Pololu cache, which is where we hiked the trail the first time. It is a good hike around four miles and lots of climbing. The trail leading out of Pololu is pretty narrow and slippery so be careful and wear hiking shoes.
Feb 2011 update: We replaced the first cache. The second cache is a bit further off the trail to the right and up a small rise and well hidden in the bushes.
NOTE: The cache is hidden under some brush on the right. You do not have to wander in the brush just go up the rise and look close as it is well covered to keep it from being muggled.
The hike is hard but the view...well it was a great birthday gift.
