Walkington's Lost Symbol Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Busy Lissy Bunch: End of an era! Many thanks to all the cachers who left interesting and fun logs and their thanks so making it so worthwhile to plan and maintain this series. Have removed the series (but added in some local caches) to allow others more local to use this lovely area for a series.

Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates are not those of the cache but a random point in the middle of the walk We suggest you find a safe place to park within Walkington village. The walk does involve a stretch along a road with no footpath so care needs to be taken and an anticlockwise direction is suggested. (If anyone can help us with the techy side to improve the layout we would be very grateful).

Walkington village is famous locally for its hayride when locals re-enacted a holiday outing on haywains, horses, carts and bicycles into Beverley stopping along the way to sing traditional songs. This would be a holiday for domestic staff and the agricultural labourers of the area hence the theme in the cache names with a few historic and famous pigs thrown in for the family to ponder. Its is also a pretty village in its own right with some lovely walks around it and this cache series takes you round some of the area. The village boats three pubs, a cafe and a shop for a well deserved drink after your exertions. Enjoy! In each cache is a symbol which can then be matched to the letters. One of the caches holds a clue as to how to match the symbols to the letters. The letter then leads you to the number using the grid below. Thanks to David 1052 for pointing out that there are two versions of this cipher so if you get an illogical answer, try the other version. You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com. The cache can be found at: N 53 (British Lop, Napoleon).(Tamworth Two, Tirpitz, Porky Pig) W 000 (Piglet, British Landrace). (Saddleback, Perky, Hamm)
