The owners, Brian and Joy Alberts, have kindly allowed us to hide a cache at their Crystal Clear Dam. Please report your presence to someone at the guest house reception or main house before attempting any of the three caches. Please stick to the paths and no bundu bashing. All three caches can be done within an hour.
Barton’s Folly used to have a restaurant, but things have now changed and it is a self-catering lodge with Manor house and Rose Cottage.
About the Crystal Dam:
This beautiful and clear dam on the property is fed from a natural fountain. Its water is crystal clear and free from any pollutants. Enjoy the natural beauty of this area as you cross the stream a number of times to get to the dam. Access to the dam is only via the manor house steps leading down to the river. The walk to the dam is very easy and fun / safe for the kids. The final co-ords are the best I could do in the deep canyon, so follow the hint.
To calculate the final co-ords, look at the sign above the main door. Using your cell phone key pad, what would be the sum for the characters? Eg DOG = 3(D)+6(O)+4(G) = 13
AB = (The sum of the second line) + 3
CD = The sum of the third line
E = (C + D) + 1
The final co-ords are: S 25° 54.9AB E 027° 37.30E
The other two caches on the same property are Old Wagon Trail at Barton's Folly(GC1W76W) and The Fort at Barton's Folly (GC1W768). Please do not attempt to climb the cliffs to access the other two caches from this dam.
