Geocache Description:

In the summer of 1989 a group of students from across BC made their home at Snass Creek, in the parking lot of the Cascade Rec area, while clearing the historic Dewdney Trail and the Skagit Bluffs Trail.  This was Base Camp and from here we worked on the Skagit  Bluffs Trail.  The Dewdney trail was cleared up to Paradise Valley and we camped in 3 mobile camps along the Dewdney while we worked on it.  Supplies were carried up to these camps by horses from MPR stables.  It was a great summer and some of us are still in contact with one another.  This cache series is a tribute to that summer.  I hope a few of the Rangers gather these caches as a trip down memory lane.

Junior Ranger ’89 Base Camp Cache

The cache is hidden in our base camp area.  This camp consisted of 8 cabin tents down by the clearing near Snass creek, 2 large dining tents, a campfire area and a pink, purple and blue school bus converted into a mobile kitchen.  The cache is near Snass creek where we pumped our water for showers.
