Geocache Description:

Welcome to the second half of Governors Park. Sylvester Pennoyer, mayor of Portland from 1896 to 1898, had already served two terms as Governor of Oregon when he and his wife Mary, gifted the city of Portland with a 6 acre tract of land in 1894. The abandoned and never developed property is divided by a road now.

There is more political poison than poison ivy here.

Pennoyer, controversial in his own time, and hated by the Oregonian newspaper, was involved in a famous Portland land dispute that made its way to the Supreme Court, Pennoyer v. Neff. He lost, but the case is still being taught in law schools today. Check out the link above.

You are entering a MORE VERTICAL park. It deserves its terrain rating. There is a dump trail partway down (if you can find it), but none to the cache. You will go knee deep in ivy, brambles, stickers, hidden tree limbs, and WILL have to bushwhack your way to the cache. Come prepared and watch your step.

You are looking for an ammo can with a green geocaching sticker on the side. FTF gets the glory of being first and a nice map compass. Neato outdoor swag for the rest, trade up or even.

***Congratulations to FTroopers and theRubinator for FTF***
