During the weekend of Oct. 12-14, 2001 this park was the site of the annual Boy Scout Gold Rush event. Several thousand boys enjoyed camping, fellowship, learning new skills, and for the lucky ones - geocaching! My thanks to fellow geocachers Jess Bowers and George Beecher for assisting me in explaining our sport to groups of boys, dads, and adult leaders. We would then take turns taking small groups to hunt for one of three candy filled caches we had hidden. It was a lot of fun for all involved. At the end of the day I collected the three 'candy caches' and hid one 'real' cache in the same general area.
Update 11/6/05. Since the original cache had recently been muggled I replaced it with a new, better hidden, one.
Update 2/11/07. The replacement cache was the apparent victim of all the new construction in the area. Version #3 is now across the street. Please park in the parking lot and walk the .1 mile rather than parking near the cache.
Update 12/9/2007. Replaced cache for the fourth time. Please hide it well.
Update 5/24/2014 Replaced cache yet again - an animal had bitten a hole in it.
