On a fairly level trail around William Pond park's pond. Has required wading for several months now; when river is at 3900 cfs (check it on dreamflows.com, American river "below Lake Natoma") the crossing is about 3' deep at the north end of the lake and 1' deep at the south end near the cache. Please bring your own pen or pencil for log.
If you look over the river to the other bank (yes, below the fancy houses), you will see a small grassy area right at the edge of the river. On one of our many walks in this area, we got to watch 8 otters play on this ledge, sliding down muddy trails in the water, clamboring up on the bank, and going down again. It's been Otter Beach to us ever since. Hope you enjoy the walk, the wildlife, and the many beautiful scenes. $1 gold presidential coin for the FTF, or a small otter if you'd prefer. CONGRATULATIONS TO GEOSTRIKERS FOR THE FTF!
