Geocache Description:

A cache hidden close to Stamp Creek Furnace in Pine Log WMA

Take Ga Hwy 20 between Canton and Cartersville. Close to county line, turn northward on to Brooke Road. There is a sign for Stamp Creek Baptist Church where you turn. When Brooke Road dead ends into Stamp Creek Road turn left. You will (eventually) get to the coordinates for the parking area and it will be on your right. .

This is a round trip walk of about 3.5 miles, most of which is on a gravel road through the Pine Log WMA. Wear bright colors if you're in the area during hunting season. (I can testify that it really is not safe during hunting season.)The road is hilly, and the hike will give you a good workout, but you will see beautiful scenery and wildlife.

Stamp creek is an open-year-round "trout steam" whose population of trout come from the periodic stocking of hatchery rainbow. Bring along some fishing gear and license, whole kernel corn for bait, and try your luck.

When you get in the area of the cache, you will see an old Civil War Era iron smelting furnace used from 1830's - 1860's Slaves actually worked the furnace and it was a big iron producer for Civil War needs.
Look closely at the earth around the cache and you may spot turquoise - cobalt blue glass slag, melted from when the furnace was active.
Also there is an old coal pile closer to the road but in front of the furnace that has green melted slag on top of the coal.

To those of you who read the cache page - these coordinates will help you a lot! ( ;
